There are many things we hope for. We hope to get the job we applied for. We hope to marry the man or the woman of our dreams. We hope that our marriage will be forever. These are ideal desires to have. Hope in the Bible is different. The Greek term for “hope” is “elpis”. It denotes “confident expectation” or “anticipation. Hope is here because Hope is a Person. His Name is Jesus. The incarnation of Christ is the birth of our hope, the anchor of our hope! As believers, we have a living hope because we trust in the Living Christ (1 Peter 1:3).
